Islamic State terrorists killed nine members of Self-Defense Forces and Deir Ezzor Military Council
ISIS members mounted two separate attacks, targeting two military positions in east and west countryside of Deir Ezzor on Wednesday evening.
The first attack took place in Al-Shuhail desert, east of Deir Ezzor, where an ISIS cell attacked a military post of Deir Ezzor Military Council, killing five members.
While in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor, ISIS members targeted a Self-Defence Forces’ postion in Jazra Al-Bushms town, killing Four members of Self-Defence Forces and ISIS suicide bomber who waged the attack after being shot, and the SDF captured two ISIS assailants.
This comes amid the ongoing dramatic increase of ISIS’s armed activities in the Autonomous Administration of North and Northeast Syria controlled areas.
Since the beginning of February, SOHR documented seven attacks carried out by ISIS cells, including armed attacks and explosions, leaving 12 members of SDF, Asayish and the Self-Defence Forces killed.
SOHR activists documented over 20 attacks, excluding Ghuwayran prison attack in January 2022 carried out by ISIS cells in SDF-held areas, killing four civilians and two military personnel.
As more fatalities are recorded and updated regularly, the number of people who were killed in areas within the four provinces of Aleppo, Deir Ezzor, Al-Raqqah and Al-Hasakah, including the SDF-held area of Manbij in the north-east of Aleppo rose to 1029 fighters, civilians, oil workers, and officials in service parties.
The Syrian Observatory documented the assassination of 321 civilians including 20 children and 20 women by armed cells in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, al-Hasakah countryside, al-Raqqah city and countryside, and Manbij area. In addition, 699 SDF fighters, including local leaders, were assassinated in the same areas.
Also, four members of International Coalition were killed. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights Human also documented tens of injuries due to these assassinations.
