Islamic State terrorists attack Hashd al-Shaabi fighters near Khanaqin
The pro-Iranian Hashd al-Shaabi came under attack by the Islamic State (IS) jihadists near the disputed town of Khanaqin on Thursday.
Confirming to BasNews, Adnan Mohammed, the head of the local administration of Sharaban town, in Diyala, said that the incident took place in an area near Hamrin village early morning on Thursday.
At least one militiaman was killed in the attack, the official said.
The extremists managed to escape to an unknown area, Mohammed pointed out.
Although the Islamic State was declared defeated almost two years ago, the insurgent group is still active in the majority of the liberated territories in Iraq.
