Islamic State terrorists ambush Syrian forces in the Syrian desert
Reliable sources provided the Syrian Observatory with new details about Islamic State ambush that targeted regime forces on Tuesday.
According to SOHR sources, Islamic State seized nearly 2,000 pieces of cattle belong to four shepherds in Al-Faydah area in Al-Mayadin Desert. The shepherds reported the regime forces about the theft, which led them to send military columns to the eastern desert of Deir Ezzor. On their way, they found another shepherd in Hmimeh area where they clashed with Islamic State members who were present in the area.
After the clashes and when the regime’s columns was on their way back, Islamic State members ambushed one of these columns causing gross losses in the ranks of the regime forces. At least 11 regime soldiers were killed in addition to the killing of two shepherds. The other three shepherds have got missing and their fate has not been known so far.
Apparently, Islamic State turned to new strategies to drag and entrap regime forces in the Syrian Desert by using shepherds. Tuesday’s incident was similar to those in Ayyash Desert and Al-Raqqah Desert before days, where executions committed and claimed the lives of tens of shepherds.
SOHR documented the killing of at least 348 members of the regime soldiers and loyalists of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities, including at least two Russians, in addition to 37 of the Iranian militias of non-Syrian nationalities, all have been killed during attacks, bombings and ambushes by the “Islamic State” organization west of Euphrates in the deserts of Deir Ezzor, Homs, and Al-Suwaidaa since the 24th of March 2019.
Also four citizens of those working in gas fields were killed and documented by SOHR in the same period, in attacks by Islamic State. SOHR also documented the killing of 103 of the “Islamic State” Organization, of who were killed during the same period during attacks, shelling, and targeting.
