Islamic State terrorist cells wage two attacks in SDF-held areas in Al-Raqqah

Reliable sources have informed SOHR that ISIS cells have attacked a SDF military vehicle on the road to Kabsh town in north-western Al-Raqqah countryside, and waged an IED attack as IED has exploded in a SDF military vehicle on the road to Al-Suwaydiyah village, west of Al-Raqqqah. No further details have been reported about the number of casualties and material damage caused by these two attacks.

These attacks come in light of escalated attacks carried out by ISIS cells in SDF-held areas after ISIS spokesman announced, on April 17, a new military campaign of “Vengeance for two Sheikhs, Al-Sheikh Abi Ibrahim Al-Hashemi Al-Qurashi, and Al-Sheikh Al-Muhajir Abi Hamza Al-Qurashi, the former ISIS leader and spokesman,” who were killed in early February 2022 by an operation waged by US forces in the border town of Atma with Turkey, north of Idlib.

SOHR activists have documented more than 16 attacks staged by ISIS cells across SDF-held areas in “Deir Ezzor, Al-Raqqa, Al-Hasakah, and Aleppo countryside.” These attacks waged by ISIS members have left ten people dead; they are as follows:

• Eight members of SDF and Asayish

• A driver of martyrs families institution in Al-Raqqah.

• A former member of the Syrian Democratic Forces.

In addition, these attacks, including armed attacks on checkpoints, patrols, assassinations, and explosions, have left 14 members injured.

Since early 2022, SOHR has documented 78 operations carried out by ISIS, including armed attacks and explosions, in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration.

According to SOHR statistics, these operations left 54 persons dead: 18 civilians and 36 members of SDF, the Internal Security Forces, and other military formations operating in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration.

It is worth noting that these attacks have not included the operation of Ghuwayran prison, which left heavy losses.
