Islamic State suspect arrested in central Turkey
Islamic State suspect was arrested in central Turkey, police said on Monday.
According to a statement by the local police in Nevsehir, the 23-year-old Syrian national suspect, who was found to have been trained in the Islamic State terror group, was arrested as part of an investigation of prosecutors.
The suspect was handed over to the provincial migration office to be deported, it added. In 2013, Turkey became one of the first countries to declare Daesh/ISIS a terrorist group.
The country has since been attacked by the terror group multiple times, with 315 people killed and hundreds more injured in at least 10 suicide bombings, seven bomb attacks, and four armed assaults.
In response, Turkey launched anti-terror operations at home and abroad to prevent further attacks.
