Islamic State recruiter with links to Jihadi John is living in London and claiming benefits
An alleged Isis recruiter has reportedly been living off benefits in east London despite links to several known terrorists.
Cassimo Ture, a known associate of notorious Isis executioner Jihadi John, moved to London from Portugal in 2005 and has been living in Newham, east London ever since.
A document compiled by the Portuguese police and seen by The Sunday Times, states that authorities believe the 44-year-old currently receives jobseeker’s allowance.
Since the terror suspect also has a young son with his wife, the family is also entitled to housing and child benefit.
A six-year investigation into Ture has led Portuguese authorities to believe he helped fighters and jihadi brides from Britain travel to Syria to join Isis.
He is accused of funding the scheme by obtaining fraudulent student loans and benefits.
The 218-page dossier claims Ture carried a logbook containing the names of all the bogus claimants linked to the scheme.
The Portuguese indictment states: “Cassimo Ture provided fundamental support to terrorist organisations through the receipt and distribution of money as well as other logistical support in the recruitment of and adherence of recruits to the Islamic State.”
Prosecutors in Lisbon identified Ture last week as a suspected member of an eight-man cell from east London who participated in “global jihad”.
The document officially links the men for the first time to the “Beatles” kidnap and beheading gang fronted by Mohammed Emwazi, the Isis killer known as Jihadi John.
Jihadi John was killed in a drone strike near Raqqa, Syria in 2015.
He became notorious after being filmed beheading several western hostages in a series of brutal videos posted online.
