Islamic State members detonate grenade as they attack headquarters of local council
Unknown assailants targeted with a grenade a merchant’s house in the city of Al-Busayrah, east of Deir ez-Zor, after being asked to pay “zakat” to the Islamic State.
It is worth nothing that he was subjected to similar threat by ISIS members last year.
On the other hand, unknown assailants threw a grenade at the headquarters of the Civil Council in Abu Hammam town in eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, causing material damage.
Moreover, members of the Internal Security Forces arrested a physical therapist who worked in Granij and Abu Hammam, east of Deir ez-Zor, after receiving several complaints against him for harassing and blackmailing women from villages and towns in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
Yesterday, SOHR sources reported that four members of the Islamic State roamed the streets of al-Busayrah city in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zour on motorcycles, chanting pro-ISIS slogans “Islamic State will remain.”
They smashed “nargila” in the neighborhood of Juria, before fleeing to an unknown destination.
The areas of Deir ez-Zor countryside are witnessing a surge in ISIS cells’ activities, targeting the SDF and well-off civilians who refuse to pay them zakat, threatening to kill them if they refuse to pay the zakat.
In recent months, the Syrian Observatory monitored smashing nargila shops in several areas because they are contrary to Islamic law, according to their ideology.
