Islamic State Khorasan province module is an active and very dangerous terrorist group
Global terror organisation Islamic State’s Khorasan module is one of the most active and potent terror outfit. This has been mentioned in a report prepared by Europol on “terrorism and trends 2020”
ISKP as its called by the Indian law enforcing agencies is under the scanner of National Investigation Agency and anti-terror units of various state police.
“In 2019 the most active IS branches outside of Iraq and Syria were those in West Africa, Libya, Egypt (‘Sinai’), Afghanistan (‘Khorasan’) and the Philippines,” Europol said in a report released on Tuesday.
Since 2016, ISKP has tried hard to establish it’s presence in India. Several of its members have been arrested.
This April, the NIA registered it’s first overseas case and started the probe in a terror attack on a Gurdwara in Shor Bazar area of Kabul, Afghanistan. 27 people were killed including an Indian national.
One of the terrorists who could have been a suicide bomber was later identified as Mohammed Muhsin, a native of Kasargod, Kerala. ISKP too released a statement identifying him with his Arabic name Abu Khalid al-Hindi. In 2018, he went to the United Arab Emirates and later joined the Islamic State.
