Islamic State hotbed found in Kirkuk
A hotbed belonging to the jihadist group of Islamic State (IS) was found on Sunday in the disputed Kurdish province of Kirkuk.
The Iraqi Federal Police said in a statement that the IS hotbed was discovered based on intelligence information in the town of Riyaz, in Kirkuk.
The security forces also seized a couple of bombs, as well as medical and food supplies.
The Islamic State was declared defeated in Iraq in late 2017, but the extremist group’s sleeper cells are still active in most liberated territories.
