The Islamic State conducted two simultaneous attacks on the Iraqi forces in Kirkuk
The Islamic State (IS) militants on Sunday night carried out two simultaneous attacks on the Iraqi forces in the disputed Kurdish province of Kirkuk. Iraqi reports said that the insurgents attacked the national forces in Jalawla town, south of Kirkuk, where clashes erupted between the two sides.
Meanwhile, the extremists targeted the Iraqi federal police forces in the village of al-Mansuriyah, south of Kirkuk. However, possible casualties are not yet known while clashes are said to have been continued in the region.
This came a few days after the Islamic State attacked Kurdistan Region’s Peshmerga forces in Garmiyan area where they killed a couple of Kurdish fighters.
