Islamic State claims bomb attack that killed several Asayish police in Hasakah
An explosion has torn through an Asayish security checkpoint in Syria’s northeastern Hasakah city.
Friday’s attack occurred in the Gweran District near the General Fuel Distribution depot.
In a statement published by the jihadi Amaq Agency, ISIS took responsibility and threatened to increase its activity in northern Kurdish communities.
“The terrorists detonated an explosive device at the Asayish checkpoint in Gweran on Friday evening,” an Asayish officer told ARA News in Hasakah. “Five of our [comrades] lost their lives and three others were wounded in the terror attack.”
“However, we want to reassure our people that we’ll continue our duty to protect the region against those terrorists. The people’s safety is our responsibility,” he said.
