Islamic State booby trap hits Iraqi army convoy killing two Iraqi soldiers
At least two Iraqi soldiers were killed in Salahaddin province after a booby trap hit their convoy, Iraq’s War Media Cell confirmed on Wednesday.
According to a statement, the explosion hit a convoy of Salahaddin join operation command while the troops were driving on a main road in the province.
At least three other soldiers were wounded in the attack, for which the Islamic State (IS) is blamed.
Elsewhere in Kirkuk, IS jihadists attacked a unit of Iraqi police near Khabbaza oilfield, killing one Kurdish officer.
A police source to Kurdistan 24 that heavy confrontation erupted between IS and the police forces in the area. Three other police forces suffered injuries following hours of fire exchange, the source added.
