Islamic State ambush kills over 10 Syrian and Palestinian soldiers in eastern Syria
Several Syrian and Palestinian soldiers were killed in eastern Syria on Sunday after the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) carried out a powerful ambush in the Al-Mayadeen Desert.
ISIS reportedly carried out the ambush along a road in the Al-Mayadeen countryside of Deir Ezzor; this resulted in the death of over ten Syrian soldiers from the National Defense Forces (NDF) and Palestinian-led Al-Quds Brigade.
These Islamic State ambushes have become frequent in central and eastern Syria, prompting the Syrian military to send reinforcements to these fronts in order to quell these attacks.
However, despite the influx of soldiers, the Syrian Arab Army has had trouble trying to contain these Islamic State attacks.
The Syrian Army is not the only victim of these ambushes, the Islamic State has also targeted several areas under the control of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
The terrorist group remains active throughout Syria despite claims of their defeat by the U.S. administration.
