Islamic State logistic man arrested in Kalar
A man has been arrested in the Kurdish city of Kalar, south of Kurdistan Region, who was a member of the Islamic State (IS) and responsible for the group’s logistics in Kirkuk, security forces said.
Head of press office at Garmiyan Directorate of Security Affairs, told BasNews that the arrest was made earlier on 2nd April when they identified and located the man, introduced by first initials only.
“He has admitted to membership in Islamic State and transferring IS militants between Kirkuk and Palkan,” Osman Abdulkarim said.
He revealed that the man was arrested with a fake ID.
The arrested jihadist has also confessed that he had taken part in several “acts of terror and violent actions” in the region while he was a member of IS security in Hawija and Sulaiman Bag.
“After IS was defeated, he entered Kalar with a fake ID, and he had the plan to travel to Sulaymaniyah,” Abdulkarim added.
