Islamic State wali killed in northern parts of Iraq
Iraqi security forces killed an Islamic State (IS) Wali [Commander] in northern areas near Mount Hamrin.
Commander of Join Operation Commands, Yahya Rasool, said the jihadist was apprehended during an aerial operation with fighter jets and helicopters involved.
The operation was led by Counter-Terror units of Iraq based on previous intelligence, he added.
Three other men, believed to be aides of the Wali, were also killed.
IS holds no populated areas in Iraq, but its insurgents are present and active in the mountains of Hamrin in Diyala province.
