Three wanted Islamic State insurgents captured in Kirkuk
At least three members of the Islamic State (IS) were captured in the disputed Kurdish province of Kirkuk, an official said on Saturday.
The Iraqi Interior Ministry Spokesperson Maj. Gen. Saad Maan said in a statement that the trio was captured by the country’s intelligence service forces, as reported by IKH News.
The official added that the three militants had been wanted by the Iraqi judiciary on terror charges.
Islamic State sleeper cells, despite the fact that the militant group was announced defeated last year, are still active in the disputed areas, continuing to carry out terrorist activities against the national forces and civilians.
