Activities:
The Muslim Brotherhood — led by Ramadan and Himmat — sponsored the construction of the Islamic Center of Munich in 1960, aided by large donations from Middle Eastern rulers such as King Fahd of Saudi Arabia.
The Ministry of Interior of Nordrhein – Westfalen has stated that the Islamic Center of Munich has been one of the European headquarters for the MB since its foundation. The center publishes a magazine, Al-Islam, that was financed by the Al-Taqwa Bank.
Muhammad Mehdi Akef, a leading MB member, was the center’s head during the early 1980s and the mosque’s Imam during 1984-1987. Today, the center is headed by Dr. Ahmad al-Khalifah. The Islamic Center of Munich currently operates under ZMD.
