ISIS textbooks founded in reclaimed Iraqi schools for teaching children how to slaughter and kill
As Iraqi government forces push closer into territory once held by ISIS, the full extent of the group’s two year rule is becoming clear.
In Arbajia, a recently recaptured neighbourhood in Mosul, school textbooks produced by the so called Islamic State have been found in empty classrooms.
Describing how mathematics was taught, one child said: “They would teach us about bullets and how to slaughter and kill others. They would ask us to add, dead body plus dead body, bullet plus bullet. They would teach us how to slaughter, these things.”
The United Nations Children’s Fund estimates nearly 5 million children in Iraq have been directly affected by the conflict in the country, with some 3.5 million out of school.
