ISIS is suffering from internal conflict over Baghdadi’s succession
The senior members of the jihadist group of Islamic State (IS) are reportedly in an internal conflict over the issue of top leader’s succession, reports said on Thursday.
Iraqi media reports cited Fazil Abu Raghib as pointing out that the main cause of the confrontation among the senior members of the jihadist group is reportedly over a militant within the group who was chosen by the top leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, while other insurgents have objected on the decision.
Baghdadi’s candidate was identified as Abdullah Qardash.
According to Abu Raghib, there are two main reasons for the resistance by the insurgents, one of which is Qardash’s biographic background, who is an Iraqi Turkman from Mosul city. Moreover, he has been accused of escaping from the battlefield in a recent combat.
