ISIS slaughters dozens of Kurdish civilians north Syria
Militants of the ISIS on Saturday infiltrated into the countryside of Kobane in Syria’s northern Aleppo province and slaughtered dozens of civilians, activists and eyewitnesses reported.
A group of ISIS extremists stormed the Kurdish village of Saikol near the Sarrin town in the southern countryside of Kobane, and broke into civilians houses.
“The terrorists infiltrated into the village of Saikol, avoiding security checkpoints of the People’s Protection Units (YPG). They slaughtered dozens of civilians, mostly children and women,” local rights activist Cheleng Hassan said.
“Clashes broke out between the YPG and a group of ISIS extremists in the village, where at least six ISIS militants were killed and a number of others were arrested. However, after the clashes, we were shocked by seeing dead bodies of dozens of villages inside the residential neighbourhoods. They were all slaughtered by knives,” an eyewitness said.
Kurdish YPG officer in Kobane Habun Osman said that most of the victims were children and women.
“Those terrorists have infiltrated into the village while dressing as civilians. They took advantage of the fragile security situation in the village, as most of the YPG fighters in Kobane countryside are now participating in the ongoing clashes with ISIS in Manbij. Those barbarians committed a horrible massacre against innocent civilians as a revenge against the Kurdish forces after their victories over the group in different parts of northern Syria,” the officer said.
The southern countryside of Kobane has been exposed to several attacks by ISIS militants since the Kurdish YPG forces liberated the area from ISIS over a year ago.
