ISIS launches big overnight attack against Syrian Army troops near key border city
The Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) carried out a big overnight attack on the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) positions near the key border city of Albukamal in eastern Deir Ezzor.
ISIS reportedly began the assault last night by storming points under the control of the Syrian Arab Army in the Albukamal countryside.
According to a military source near the scene of the battle, the Syrian Army was able to fend off the Islamic State assault, but they suffered at least ten casualties as a result of the clashes.
Furthermore, another Islamic State ambush against the Syrian Arab Army was reported this morning in the Al-Mayadeen countryside.
The reports said over five Syrian Army soldiers and Islamic State fighters were killed during the fierce encounter in the desert region near Al-Mayadeen city.
Despite U.S. President Donald Trump’s claim that the Islamic State had been defeated in Syria and Iraq, the terrorist group continues to wreak havoc inside both countries, while also reemerging in several other nations, including Libya.
