ISIS kills 7 Iraqi border guards near Jordan

Terrorists with the Takfiri group of ISIS (Daesh / ISIL) have killed seven Iraqi border guards and injured 17 others in the western Anbar Province close to the border with Jordan.
Reporting on Tuesday, the Kurdish media network Rudaw said the fatalities were caused after the militants struck a battalion of the guards west of the provincial capital of Ramadi.

A number of the terrorists were themselves killed in ensuing clashes, while others fled to the desert after fighting intensified.

The northern and western parts of Iraq have been plagued by gruesome violence ever since ISIS terrorists mounted a large-scale offensive in the country in June 2014.

Separately, Iraqi Peshmerga fighters thwarted an ISIS attack against the town of Sinjar in the neighboring Nineveh Province, killing 60 of the terrorists. Some 120 militants had partaken in the strike. Five Kurdish fighters were injured in the counter-attack.

The town came under ISIS control in August 2014. Backed by airstrikes, Kurdish forces and allied militia fighters liberated the town last November.

The group also has a presence in neighboring Syria, where Syrian government forces are pushing it out of much of the areas it has overrun.
