ISIS attacks village near Khanaqin and injures four people
Islamic State (IS) militants injured two civilians and two Iraqi soldiers overnight on Sunday after they attacked a village near Khanaqin, Diyala province.
The jihadists first planted a roadside bomb which exploded at a truck, after which the security forces and locals from a nearby village rushed to the scene of the blast, said a local official.
“After they arrived, the IS jihadists ambushed them and opened fire at the crowd,” the official added.
Besides four injured in the attack, the truck driver has gone missing.
“It is not clear if he has fled or if he is kidnapped by the militants.”
BasNews has learned that the attack took place near Islah village, on the road connecting Khanaqin and Kalar.
