Iraqi security forces arrested fourteen Islamic State terrorists
A security source reported, on Wednesday, that three ISIS cells had been planning to launch attacks in the vicinity of Samarra district, southeast of Saladin Governorate.
The source told Shafaq News agency, “The intelligence agencies, in coordination with the security forces within the sectors south of Saladin, managed to arrest 14 terrorists belonging to 3 terrorist cells who were planning to launch suicide attacks and missile strikes in Samarra, against security units and citizens”.
The source indicated that the security forces have arrested the terrorists on the outskirts of Yathrib and Al-Ishaqi, and the villages adjacent to the Balad district.
Since declaring the defeat of ISIS in Iraq in 2017, the terrorist organization has reverted to its old method by launching guerrilla attacks targeting military personnel and citizens.
Iraq is launching military combing campaigns, supported by the US-led international coalition to pursue the ISIS remnants.
