Iraqi Army Forces destroyed at least 12 Islamic State hideouts in Anbar and Kirkuk
A dozen of hideouts belonging to the Islamic State (IS) jihadist group were destroyed by the Iraqi forces in the provinces of Kirkuk and Anbar on Monday.
At least ten hideouts were destroyed during the fourth phase of the “Will of Victory” operation in the desert areas of Anbar, a pro-Iranian Hashd al-Shaabi commander told al-Maalomah, noting that several jihadists were also killed in the area.
According to the militia commander, the operation was backed by the country’s Air Force.
Iraq has launched the comprehensive military campaign since July to clear the border areas from the remnants of the Islamic State.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Interior Ministry, Maj. Gen. Saad Maan, said in a statement that the Iraqi security forces targeted two IS hideouts in the disputed Kurdish province of Kirkuk on Monday where a large cache of weapons was hidden, as reported by Iraqi News.
He noted that the forces also found eight explosive charges, 200 bullets, and four missiles as well, adding that the two hideouts were destroyed.
“The two hotbeds were completely destroyed, and the seized weapons were handed over to the competent authorities.”
