Iraqi army forces destroy Islamic State hideout near Mosul

Iraqi security forces discovered and destroyed a hideout belonging to the Islamic State (IS) in north of the country, a military statement confirmed.

The discovery of the hideout was made during a massive operation Iraq has recently launched to clear a desert area in Nineveh, Salahaddin, and Anbar provinces near the Syrian border.

The security forces discovered and seized weapons, medical materials, electronic devices, and military uniforms at the location.

Iraq announced the final victory over IS in December 2017. However, the country continues to struggle with the remnants of the jihadist group who regularly attack the security forces and civilians, especially in north and west of the country.
