Iraq receives senior Daesh terrorist organization’s financial leader from Lebanon
Iraq has taken custody of a senior financial leader of the Daesh terrorist organization from Lebanese authorities, according to a security source. The handover marks a significant step in Iraq’s ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and dismantle the financial network of Daesh.
Lebanese authorities hand over Daesh financial chief
An Iraqi security source told Shafaq News Agency that the Lebanese security service had handed over A.A. Al-Dulaimi, 50, a senior Daesh financial leader, to Iraqi authorities.
Al-Dulaimi is suspect of funding numerous terrorist operations in Iraq and is considered one of the most dangerous leaders within the organization. He was also responsible for recruiting many suicide bombers, the source added.
Arrest of another senior Daesh leader
This development follows an announcement by Iraq’s National Security Service on Saturday regarding the arrest of another senior Daesh leader. The captured leader, known as Abu Hiba, was responsible for several crimes and is wanted under Iraq’s Article 4 of the Terrorism Law.
The Iraq National Security Service stated, “With precise intelligence information and months of field surveillance, the Iraqi National Security Service captured one of the most dangerous Daesh leaders, known as Abu Hiba.”
Discovery of graves in Fallujah
During the interrogation, Abu Hiba admitted his affiliation with the terrorist organization Daesh in the Fallujah Province of Iraq, where he served as the security chief.
He also revealed the existence of a mass grave containing the bodies of security personnel and civilians whom he had captured and participated in killing. “Based on his information, the grave was discovered in the Fallujah district, and the remains of three victims were recovered. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the remains of other victims,” the statement added.
