Iranian group investigated in the UAE for suspected terrorist plot against Israelis
UAE intelligence agencies have arrested an Iranian squad in Dubai and Abu Dhabi on suspicion of plotting to carry out attacks against Israeli citizens. The members of the group are under investigation.
On the anniversary of IRGC Quds Force Chief Qasem Soleimani’s assassination, Iran was suspected of planning revenge for the killing of Soleimani.
The attack was planned to take place outside the borders of Israel, as the UAE is one of the new tourist destinations more frequently traveled by Israelis in recent weeks, according to N12. The recent normalization between Israel and the UAE have caused a surge in travel between the two states.
The US, Israel and Gulf states are on high alert as a result, due to fears that Iran will attempt to carry out attacks against Israelis there.
Thousands of Israelis have recently been in Dubai, whether for business or leisure purposes, and it has been under investigation whether they were the target of the same Iranian cell that planned to carry out attacks.
