Insurgents ambush soldiers in Zamfara | Troops kill ‘5 terrorists’ in Sambisa
Troops of Sector 1 Operation Hadin Kai have reportedly killed five Boko Haram terrorists during a raid of their enclave in Bula Dalo, Bama LGA of Borno.
According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, the raid was carried out on Sunday in collaboration with other security forces.
The publication said no fatalities were recorded among the soldiers, adding that some members of other security agencies sustained injuries.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, at least 17 fighters of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) drowned while trying to cross a river along the border between Nigeria and Niger Republic.
The insurgents were reportedly attempting to reach Tam village in Niger Republic, near the Kannamma settlement in Yobe, when the incident occurred.
‘INSURGENTS AMBUSH TROOPS IN ZAMFARA’
Zagazola Makama also reported that at least one soldier lost his life, while four others survived, during an ambush by terrorists in the Maru LGA of Zamfara state.
According to the publication, troops from Sector 1 were ambushed while on patrol and escort duty along the Dansadau-Yar Galadima road.
“The ambush, which took place at approximately 1200 hours on September 21, 2024, occurred near the Mashayar Zaki area as the troops were escorting soldiers going on leave and civilian vehicles headed for a local market,” the report reads.
“Reports indicate that one soldier paid the supreme price during the attack, while four others sustained injuries.
“The wounded personnel have been evacuated to the 1 Brigade Medical Centre (BMC) for treatment. In addition, one of the patrol vehicles was damaged during the ambush.”
