Indonesian police arrested four suspected terrorists from group affiliated to the Islamic State
The Indonesian police announced Friday that they have arrested four suspected terrorists affiliated to the Islamic State-linked terrorist group Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) in separate operations in the country’s province of West Java in the past three days.
The National Police’s spokesman Ahmad Ramadhan said the anti-terrorism unit Densus 88 on Wednesday arrested three people in Pangandaran district for allegedly being involved in JAD, an organization declared illegal in 2018.
Ramadhan said the three suspects were allegedly involved in terrorist activity in September 2019 with other members of JAD in the East Priangan region.
Another suspect, he said, was arrested by the special unit in Linggajaya village of Tasikmalaya district on Friday.
JAD is responsible for a string of attacks, including a suicide bombing at a cathedral in Makassar City on Sulawesi Island in March this year and several suicide bombings at churches in East Java in 2018, which killed a dozen people.
