Indonesian authorities arrested twelve alleged terrorists in three provinces
The Indonesian police’s anti-terror squad arrested 12 alleged terrorists in the country’s provinces of South Kalimantan, Bali and West Nusa Tenggara, local media reported on Wednesday.
The alleged terrorists are members of outlawed groups of the Jamaah Ansharut Daulah and the Jamaah Islamiyah, the Indonesian State Police’s spokesman Brigadier General Awi Setiyono said on Tuesday, adding that seven suspects were arrested in South Kalimantan.
“On June 1, the first suspect identified as NZN who is the secretary of the Jamaah Ansharut Daulah, and other suspects who are identified as MRR, AS, MN, TA and S were arrested in South Kalimantan,” Setiyono said, adding that another one was dead.
In Bali, the police’s anti-terror squad known as the Special Detachment 88 caught two suspects identified as MRAH and MHAH, Setiyono said.
According to him, MRAH was held for involvement in a survey in Banten province’s district of Lebak to look for persons who were expected to be targets of attacks by the Jamaah Islamiyah.
“MHAH was arrested in Banten province’s district of Serang, who was involved in a plan to grab weapons from the police,” he said.
The Special Detachment 88 also apprehended three suspects identified as ER, WA and HA who were allegedly members of the Jamaah Islamiyah in West Nusa Tenggara on June 8, 2020, he said.
