Indian forces neutralise 5 terrorists in Jammu & Kashmir’s Kulgam

Five terrorists, who were allegedly hiding at Kedar in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, were eliminated by security forces during an encounter on Thursday.

All the five bodies have been spotted and the identification process is underway, sources to News18 said.

Two Army personnel were also wounded in the clash. They have been moved to the hospital for treatment.

The gunfight began in the early hours of Thursday after security forces launched a cordon and search operation at Kadder in the Behibagh area of Kulgam district late on Wednesday following inputs about the presence of suspected terrorists hiding in the area.

The search operation, however, turned into an encounter as the terrorists opened fire on the security forces, who then “effictively retaliated,” the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps aid in a post on X.

“OP KADER, Kulgam. Based on specific intelligence input regarding the presence of terrorists, a Joint Operation was launched by the Indian Army and J-K police at Kader, Kulgam. Suspicious activity was observed by vigilant troops and on being challenged, terrorists opened indiscriminate and heavy volumes of fire. Own troops effectively retaliated. Operation is in progress,” read the post by the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps.
