In Fresh Threat, Khalistani Extremist Pannun Asks Gangsters To Kill Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has reportedly received a death threat from Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, who has issued multiple threats against India in the recent past.
Gurpatwant Singh Pannun is the founder of the pro-Khalistan group Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) which is banned in India as an ‘unlawful association’ under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). On July 1, 2020, Pannun was listed as an ‘individual terrorist’ by the Centre.
Pannun – an American-Canadian citizen residing in the United States, has “urged gangsters to unite and launch an attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Punjab CM on January 26, an indiatoday.in report mentioned.
Director General of State Police, Gaurav Yadav, asserted Punjab Police forces’ “zero tolerance policy” against gangsters and vowed “strict action.”
Last year, Pannun released a video in which he threatened to carry out an attack on the Indian Parliament on or before December 13, the 2001 Parliament Attack anniversary.
Although not linked to Pannun’s threat, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun had also announced Rs 10 lakh legal aid for four men and a woman who breached parliament security on December 13, 2023. This security breach incident, however, was not linked to Pannun’s threat, police said.
Before the Parliament threat, Pannun had issued a threat to passengers flying by Air India on November 19, 2023.
In a video on November 4, Pannun had asked Sikhs to not fly by Air India planes on and after the above-said date, claiming a threat to their lives if they did so.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) later registered a case against Pannu, the founder of pro-Khalistan group Sikhs For Justice, over the video.
