Ibrahim El-Zayat is a German citizen of Egyptian origins (Egyptian father and a German mother).
El-Zayat holds positions in several Muslim organizations in Germany and Europe and regularly lectures on issues of integration and Muslim identity in European countries, as well as Islamic finance and economics.
El-Zayat also heads SLM Liegenschaftsmanagement GmbH, a company funding the building of mosques around Europe.
An Arabic website studying Islamist movements mentions el-Zayat as the “Minister of Finance of the international organization of the Muslim Brotherhood.” [source]
El-Zayat headed the Islamic Association in Germany (IGD), a German member organization of the Federation of Islamic Organisations in Europe, and which is listed by the German domestic intelligence agency as a key representative of the Muslim Brotherhood in Germany.
The German government has also identified El-Zayat in the past as the European representative of the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY).
