Hussein Sobhe Borhot from Calgary (Canada), travelled to Syria between the spring of 2013 and 2014 where he allegedly joined and underwent training with the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist group.

During Borhot’s time in Syria and with the Islamic State, he participated in a kidnapping either at the direction of or in association with the group.

Borhot was among several men with Calgary connections whose names were discovered on Islamic State documents that appeared to be application forms to join the terrorist organization.

Hussein Sobhe Borhot (the older Borhot) is related, but is not a sibling with Jamal Taan Borhot.
