Three ISIS hotbeds destroyed in Diyala
At least three hotbeds of the Islamic State (IS) jihadist group were destroyed in the Iraqi province of Diyala on Thursday.
A security source told Baghdad Today that, apart from the three hideouts, a booby-trapped house was also destroyed during a security operation in al-Waqf basin, northeastern Baqubah.
The military campaign was conducted by the joint security forces who were backed by the Iraqi Air Force and tribal fighters on Thursday which was the second day of the operation, as cited by Iraqi News.
Another seven explosive charges were also discovered in the house, the report added.
Islamic State was declared defeated in late 2017 while the group’s sleeper cells have so far continued to carry out terrorist activities against the security forces and civilians.
