Four ISIS hideouts destroyed in Kirkuk
Iraqi security forces announced on Thursday the discovery and destruction of four Islamic State (IS) hideouts in rural areas of Kirkuk province.
Iraqi Federal Police Command revealed in a statement that the hideouts were destroyed in the villages of Saghira, al-Khani, al-Owaifiyat, and Ghabzou’a.
The statement revealed that materials were also seized from the hideouts without specifying the types of materials.
It was not clear if any insurgents were taken down during the operations.
The Iraqi government declared the “entire Iraqi territories” liberated from IS last year in December. However, the group’s sleeper cells are still active in the areas of Nineveh, Kirkuk, Salahaddin, Diyala, and Anbar provinces.
