Hezbollah terrorist group pushes for normal ties with Syria

Hezbollah Leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah emphasized Tuesday the importance of starting an open and official dialogue with Syrian authorities, the National News Agency reported (NNA).

Hezbollah’s stance came during his meeting with Marada Movement leader Suleiman Frangieh to discuss the latest developments on the Iraqi and Syrian fronts.

NNA reported a statement issued by Hezbollah’s media office, saying that the two officials reaffirmed the need to contact Syrian authorities and benefit from the re-opening of Boukamal border in Iraq which will facilitate the export of Lebanese products through Syria to Iraq and other Arab countries.

The two also noted that relations with Syria should be normalized in a bid to find a quick solution to the Syrian refugee problem.

Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil announced two days earlier his plan to visit Syria soon in a bid to discuss topics that are vital for both countries.

However, Prime Minister Saad Hariri has, on many occasions, voiced his rejection to conduct a direct dialogue with Syria on any matter while accusing the Syrian regime of assassinating his father, late Prime Minister Rafic Hariri.
