Hezbollah fired around 190 rockets in northern Israel, targeting several towns
Hezbollah launched a barrage of around 190 rockets at northern Israel late Monday, injuring seven people, including a toddler.
The attacks targeted several towns, including Bi’ina, Karmiel, and Haifa, with 50 rockets hitting the Galilee region. Three people, including a woman and a child, were taken to a medical centre after being hit by shrapnel in the northern Arab town of Bi’ina.
Posting the video of the damage caused by the attack on the social media platform X, IDF wrote “Northern_Israel_Is_Under_Attack. We will continue to defend our civilians against Hezbollah’s aggression”.
Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the rocket strikes, which included an assault on a training base in Karmiel.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) successfully intercepted some of the rockets, but several others caused damage to homes and cars in the Kiryat Ata suburb of Haifa. Four people were wounded, with one listed in moderate condition after being hit by shrapnel.
Later in the day, Hezbollah launched additional rocket barrages at Haifa, marking one of the largest attacks on the city. The IDF reported that many of the rockets were intercepted, but some did cause damage. Following this, a drone launched from Lebanon was also intercepted over the northern kibbutz of Malkia, while another drone crashed near Liman.
Notably, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently admitted the role of Israel behind the September’s pager attack on the Hezbollah in Beirut. Netanyahu went further and said that he personally approved the operation.
The attacks come amid ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, with tensions escalating since Hamas’s October 2023 assault.
Israel is reportedly making progress on a ceasefire with Hezbollah, working with the United States to ensure that Hezbollah will not re-arm. However, Hezbollah’s spokesperson denied receiving any official ceasefire proposal.
Earlier in the afternoon of 11 November, reports emerged that an Israeli airstrike on a building in northern Lebanon killed at least 30 people, further escalating the conflict.
Despite the ceasefire discussions, Israeli officials have warned that they will continue operations if Hezbollah persists in strengthening its military presence.
