Hezbollah attacks Israel’s defence headquarters with explosive drones, no deaths reported
Hezbollah on Wednesday (November 13) said it launched a drone attack targeting Israel’s military headquarters and ministry of defence in the capital city of Tel Aviv.
The Iran-backed militant group said it conducted an “aerial attack with a squadron of exploding drones”.
In a statement on Telegram, Hezbollah mentioned that the base served as the headquarters for the Israeli war ministry and general staff, as well as the war management room and the air force’s war control and supervision authority.
The Israeli military said in two statements that it intercepted two drones and 40 projectiles launched from Lebanon, where Hezbollah is based, and said that the attack had caused no injuries.
The statements did not specify what sites had been targeted.
No visible end to Israel-Hezbollah war
Meanwhile, Israel’s recently-appointed defence minister, Israel Katz, said that the country “won’t take foot off the pedal” in its war with Hezbollah.
“We will make no ceasefires, we will not take our foot off the pedal, and we will not allow any arrangement that does not include the achievement of our war objectives,” Katz said on his first visit to the border region since his appointment.
Hezbollah and Israel have been at war since late September, when the Israeli military intensified its airstrikes on Lebanon and deployed ground troops across the border.
Hezbollah initiated low-intensity strikes on Israel in 2023, saying it had done so to express solidarity with its ally Hamas following the militant group’s attack on Israel on October 7.
According to the Lebanese health ministry, more than 3,300 people have been killed in Lebanon since the violence erupted last year, the majority of casualties occurring since late September.
