Hezbollah Alarmed by Syria’s Shift in Power
The Lebanese Hezbollah movement has described the armed opposition’s rise to power in Syria as a “dangerous change” that demands careful analysis.
Senior Hezbollah official and Lebanese parliament member Hassan Fadlallah addressed the situation, saying, “What is happening in Syria is a significant, dangerous change. How and what exactly happened requires an assessment of the situation, but it is not being done from the podium.”
The ousting of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, a key ally of Hezbollah, has disrupted a crucial supply route for the group.
According to Reuters, under Assad’s regime, Syria functioned as a conduit for Iranian weapons destined for Hezbollah.
Last week, Syrian rebel forces announced the capture of Damascus and the establishment of transitional authorities, marking a pivotal shift in the nation’s political landscape.
