Hamas: We are closely following events in Jerusalem and al-Aqsa mosque
Hamas is closely following what is happening in Jerusalem and warns Israel against continuing its “provocations” against the Palestinians in the city, Abu Obeida, spokesperson for the terrorist group’s military wing, Izaddin al-Qassam Brigades, warned on Thursday.
Abu Obeida was referring to the protests that took place at Damascus Gate during MK Itamar Bin Gvir’s presence in the area.
Senior Hamas official Khalil al Hayya said that the ceasefire between his group and Israel will remain “fragile” as long as the flag march planned by Jewish groups in Jerusalem remains “on the table.”
Hayya and other Hamas officials who are in Cairo for discussions with Egyptian General Intelligence Service officials on ways of maintaining the ceasefire with Israel warned against attempts by Jews to “storm” Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Hayya warned that the Israeli “provocations and assaults” on the Palestinians in Jerusalem and the Islamic holy sites could lead to another “explosion.”
The Hamas officials complained to the Egyptians about Israel’s actions in Jerusalem and demanded that Cairo put pressure on the Israeli government to halt the “provocations,” sources close to Hamas said.
