Hamas threatens Israel with intifada during High Holidays amid escalating resistance
During a time of High Holidays, Israel faces threats of terror by Hamas, according to The Jerusalem Post.
They add Hamas has called on Palestinian Authority leadership to “return to the intifada,” or an uprising against Israeli occupation.
The last intifada, researchers told The National Desk, was in 2005.
That raises the question — why is this all happening now?
The Palestine Network for Dialogue shared photos, reporting on a recent meeting between the leadership of Hamas and the Popular Front to emphasize the escalation of resistance against the occupation.
The meeting also reportedly discussed the situation in a Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon, calling to support efforts to stabilize the ceasefire.
“The outcome now, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu back in place, is one that Hamas is not going to like,” Professor of International Studies at Cedarville University Dr. Glen Duerr said. “He is looking at potential increased settlements in the West Bank, which is a big no no on the position of Hamas, but Hamas has a long history of committing terrorist attacks and Israel is much better and much more secure than in previous decades.”
Duerr added that though a lot is still murky as there are a lot of complexities with this, it’s definitely a dangerous warning.
