Hamas terrorists enjoy good ties with Tehran
A senior figure in the Palestinian resistance group Hamas described its relations with Iran as “perfect”. Musa Abu Marzouq said Hamas-Iran relations have been improving and reached the level before the start of the Syrian crisis seven years ago, ISNA reported on Saturday.
“Our relations with Iran have neared the level before the developments in Syria,” he said. He also criticized “some” who do not like to see Iran-Hamas ties improving in what seemed to be a reference to some Arab states such as Saudi Arabia. Iran and Hamas saw some downturn in their relations when the latter decided to voice support for opposition groups trying to oust Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad in the beginning of the insurgency against the Arab country.
Hamas’ position on Syria, however, was later eased as terrorist groups like the self-styled Islamic State emerged as the leading force in the foreign-backed militancy in Syria. The US decision in recognizing Beit-ul-Moqaddas also had the resistance group realize that its stances veering from Iran had cost the group dearly.
