Hamas is recovering, warns Israel expert
An Israeli expert on the Hamas economy has warned that military pressure on the movement may not be enough to eliminate it. Eyal Ofer made his comment during an interview with Radio 103 FM.
He suggested that the occupation state itself admitted this when it submitted an affidavit to the High Court, confirming that it was not in control of Gaza, according to the Russia Today website.
“We need to focus on the biggest spin of all, that there is nothing left to do in Gaza,” said Ofer. “This is not the case at all.” In the northern Gaza Strip, “Hamas is recovering,” he claimed, adding that the proposed hostage deal will allow “a million Gazans to arrive in Gaza City.”
Ofer pointed out that Israel was forced to evacuate the residents of Gaza City in order to eliminate the terrorist [sic] infrastructure in the area. “We need to conduct a military campaign there in which the population is directed to the south. “The time has come for the IDF to show determination and seriousness” in its evacuation notices, so that “these people will eventually, like the other 700,000, mostly leave.”
He ended by saying: “It is clear that we will not go down to the last terrorist [sic] and that any alternative government we introduce will depend on Hamas because Hamas has tremendous military power, but strategically, what is important to us is the north of the Strip, and we can put pressure on them there.”
