Status: Senior field commander.
Role: He was fighting in the 90’s in Bosnia with the Muslim population in order to defend Islam against the Serbs. In those years he got his nickname Alaa al Bosna. When the Balkan war ended, he came back to Lebanon and quickly became the commander of many terror operations against Israel, especially in South Lebanon. Later he took major part in the 2006 war between the sides.
When ISIS started to spread in Iraq, he moved there to help the Iraqi militias to fight against them. Later on, he was one of the leading commanders of Hezbollah in Syria, commanding Hezbollah’s brigades on every front against ISIS in order to assist Assad’s regime to survive in power. He was killed in Aleppo, Syria in 26 th of February, 2016 in a gunfight with ISIS.
He was one of Hezbollah’s most experience field commanders and wanted to stay on field as much as possible. He was in very close connections with all the top command of Hezbollah and even with Iranians that knew already from his time in Bosnia. Things he learned there were being used afterwards in Lebanon as part of Hezbollah’s new “military doctrine”.
