German authorities arrest Syrian man for war crimes and ISIS membership
The Associated Press reports that a 29-year old Syrian man is in custody on allegations that he, as a member of ISIS, committed war crimes in his home country.
Fares A.B., whose name was not released to the public due to privacy laws, was arrested on July 31 and appeared before a judge on Tuesday.
German federal prosecutors informed the public that Fares had joined the Nursa Front terrorist organization in 2013, followed by ISIS in 2014. He reportedly was monitoring a jail during that time, where he is believed to have abused three prisoners.
Charges against him also include the beating of a pickup driver with his assault rifle at a traffic control point, and the execution of an ISIS prisoner.
