FSB detains three further suspects in connection with Moscow terror attack

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) announced on Thursday that it had detained three more suspects in relation to the Moscow concert hall terror attack, state-owned news outlet RIA Novosti reported.

The FSB said it suspected the three men, who were detained in Moscow, the city of Yekaterinburg in the Urals, and the western Siberian city of Omsk, financed the purchase of weapons and vehicles for the concert hall terror attack and “engaged in recruiting accomplices”.

While the FSB did not disclose their identities, they did confirm that all three were “from Central Asia”, though it said that one of them was a Russian citizen.

Later on Thursday, Russian business daily RBC reported that three additional suspects had been taken into custody in Dagestan, in the Russian North Caucasus, in connection to the Moscow concert hall attack.

The men, two of whom are citizens of Tajikistan, and one of whom is Russian, are suspected of being members of an “international terrorist organisation” and having illegally purchased weapons. The suspects, who have not been named, allegedly stored the weapons at an apartment in the city of Kaspiysk in Dagestan.

This brings the total number of suspects remanded in custody in relation to the attack to 13, including the four suspected gunmen.
