Foiled infiltration bid in Rajouri as armed terrorist is killed by the army forces

Security forces foiled an infiltration bid early on Wednesday morning and killed a terrorist along the Line of Control (LoC) in Keri area of Bhimber Gali sector in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district.

A joint security operation was launched close to the LoC in Keri area based on specific intelligence inputs. “Around 5.55am, a group of terrorists tried to sneak into the Indian territory on this side of the Line of Control,” Jammu-based defence spokesperson Lt Col Devender Anand said.

“The terrorists were seen crossing the LoC and alert troops of the Indian Army foiled the infiltration bid, resulting in killing of one terrorist,” he said and added that one AK-47 and two magazines were recovered in the search operation.

On June 1, the Army had neutralised three heavily-armed intruders and foiled an infiltration bid in the forward area of Kalal along the LoC in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district and recovered one M16 US-made rifle, two AK-47s, 13 AK-47 magazines, 6 M16 magazines, one pistol, one magazine, one UBGL and one grenade.

As per reports, the security forces this year have killed 128 terrorists, including around 48 in June during different counter-insurgency operations across Jammu and Kashmir.
