Five terrorist suspects receive long prison terms for plotting terrorist attacks in Russia
The Second Western District Military Court has sentenced five members of the Islamic State terrorist organization prohibited in Russia to prison terms ranging from 18 to 25 years for plotting terrorist attacks in the metropolitan area, according to the Federal Security Service’s (FSB) statement.
Additionally, the convicts received harsh fines varying from 250,000 to 300,000 rubles ($3,400 – 4,000).
The sentence has come into force.
According to the FSB, the defendants created an undercover community to commit terrorist attacks in Moscow. After the attacks they planned to leave for Syria for further participation in terrorist actions.
